Arts at the Arms is a performing arts organisation based in Yorkshire aiming to support local creatives share their practice. We aim to showcase original work and developing talent from our region in a relaxed setting.
We started our journey with a sell-out inaugural event in December 2019 at the historic Cardigan Arms in Leeds but unfortunately our plans for 2020 were curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead we embarked on our 'Introducing' programme at the start of 2021- a series of short pieces with accompanying podcast profiles of the creatives behind them.
In September 2021 we made our exciting return to live events with a sellout run of 3 dates in and around Leeds. We then followed up with a Christmas run in December 2021 which started at the The Constitutional before rising Omicron cases meant the later shows were been postponed till 2022.
2022 saw the rearranged Christmas shows from 2021 and a collaboration with CAST in Doncaster for their Fresh Works programme in the Spring. Followed up with our fourth edition in September. We continue to go from strength to strength with plans to finish the year strongly. We return to Chapel FM for an Arts at the Arms takeover on the Saturday night of their 'Writing on Air' festival at the end of November. Finishing with our fifth full length show at venues across West Yorkshire in December.
September 2023 saw us take on both new venues and old favourites as we make our debut at Leeds Playhouse and return to Seven Arts.
We followed that up with our first run of dates during summer 2024, with shows at Leeds Playhouse, Seven Arts and new venue - Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley. You can find out about our next event at Christmas here.
